Anyone can weld a gate.

Nair Smart Solutions is a metal fabrication workshop in Trinidad & Tobago built around one machine and one idea: that a gate is not a barrier you buy, it's a piece of your house. So it should look like your house.

Avinash Nair owns and runs the shop. He takes the enquiry, draws the design, cuts it on his own CNC plasma table, welds it up, has it coated and puts it on your wall. There is no chain of suppliers between you and the person doing the work.

The machine

Drawn as a file.
Cut as one piece.

A CNC plasma table cuts a shape out of solid steel by following a drawing. That sounds like a technical detail. It is actually the whole business, because it changes what a decorative gate costs.

Cut by hand, every leaf and every letter is a separate act of labour, so detail is what makes a gate expensive. Cut from a file, the machine follows the line it is given and doesn't charge by the flourish. Detail costs a fraction of what it costs in a shop working by hand — which is why the design can genuinely be yours instead of whatever was on the shelf.

How a design happens

The workshop

Everything happens under one roof.

The steel arrives as flat sheet and tube. It leaves as a finished gate. Nothing in between is subcontracted out, which is the reason a start date given here is a start date that holds.

    Drawn

    Your design is drawn as a digital file and sent to you. Two rounds of revisions are included, and nothing is cut until you say yes.

  2. 02

    Cut

    The file goes to the plasma table and the design is cut straight out of the steel — one panel, not an assembly of parts tacked on.

  3. 03

    Fabricated

    Frame welded up, panels fitted, joints dressed back. This is the part that decides whether a gate still closes properly in five years.

  4. 04

    Coated & fitted

    Finished in powder coat, then installed by the same shop that made it. Where masonry work is involved, the opening is assessed first.

The owner

Avinash Nair.

Avinash owns and manages the shop, and does the work in it. When you send an enquiry, he is the one who reads it. When a design comes back to you, he drew it. When the gate is fitted, he is the one fitting it.

That is not a small operation apologising for its size. It is the reason the quote is in writing, the reason the drawing is approved before anything is cut, and the reason the lead time is counted honestly — a job doesn't come into this shop until there is room to give it proper attention.

We fabricate and we install

The shop that makes your gate is the shop that hangs it. Where an installation needs masonry work, the opening is assessed first and you're told plainly what's involved before anything is agreed.

We don't supply or fit motors

Automation is somebody else's trade and we won't pretend otherwise. Gates are built so an operator can be fitted later by an automation installer, but we don't sell or service them.

Every piece is powder coated

There's a range of coating options and the right one depends on where the gate sits and how exposed it is. We go through the choices at quote stage — they do affect the price.

14 to 20 business days

Fourteen for standard work, twenty for complex pieces, counted from the day your gate actually starts on the floor — not from the day you pay, and not from a queue position.

The work itself

Not renders, not samples, not a supplier's brochure. Every photograph in the catalog is a finished job standing at somebody's house.
